I ran into a guy whose grandfather was the designer/mfg of the license plate toppers that show up every now and then on ebay. He sent me a couple pics and told me about how the 2nd design came about. He said the Grandpa told him that Ole Miss fans (and I assume all opposing fans) would snap the tail off the standing tigers tail at games so he came up with the 2nd design of the tiger laying down. Said he has 3 of the original toppers left and quite a bit more of the 2nd version. Attachments:

I have never seen the top one.
LSUJeaux has two of the ones on the bottom, but on faces left and one faces right. Neither are painted on the back.

It's quite possible you know the guy, if by sight if nothing else. He is a rabid estate sale, get there early, front of the line kinda guys... You can get an idea of what he likes by looking at the pic i posted.
I never thought about it but I will have to ask him if he know Injun Will

What's the little sign says on that top topper? It's too small for me to make out.....too grainy if I magnify. I have this topper, and it'd be nice to know a little more about it. TIA
